The Hardest Part

April 20, 2019

Now it feels like autumn is here.

Roy Kim is coming back with another song of separation; The Hardest Part whose literal translation as "Let's stop here," is the sequel of the song Only then that tell us about separation is the most difficult and most painful things in a relationship. “Let’s stop” is one phrase that contain such a deep meaning. The word that commonly used to describe we tired of something or the desire to give up. Or also declares a goodbye that make them start a lonely part. Separation is not something that easy to get over and needs more time to dealing with it.

Yes, no matter how hard I try
What can’t become, what can’t be done
Is all my fault in the end
I tried praying alone
But seeing myself wanting something I can’t have
Was sadder

It's story about a man who acknowledges that his relationship already in the edge. No matter what he does and how he tries to fix it, everything happens because of all his fault.

In your pretty eyes that I’m looking into
There is no more me

The most painful part of this song is when he realizes that he is no longer the loved one. So he said;

Let’s end this now
Saying ‘don’t be sick’ or ‘good night;
Let’s end them now
Because we can’t even properly say ‘I love you’

He wants to stop everything, not because he wants to leave her, but because he doesn't want hurting each other by holding on something fragile. He asks to end up everything and stop pretending to be nice to each other.

It’s not like I’m a good guy anyway
I said a lot of things that I didn’t even mean
But you accepted it all
Maybe that’s why your heart
Doesn’t flutter toward me anymore

Another remorse he had, this state he just realized his woman was trying really hard to stay next to him no matter happened and no matter how he treated her, but, because of that, because of her patient and her effort to understand him, her heart became numb.

No, don’t go
Say this isn’t the right time, hold onto me
After today and after tomorrow

In the end, the man still hoped that they would not separate. Not now, not on this state. But later, at the right time. Or never..
...

So as I ever said,
Letting go of someone is the hardest part in relationship but at the same time it can also be an evidence of true love. The biggest love that having them. So, the end of this song makes me understand why this song belongs to Only Then sequel. To break up later, only then.

Such a brilliant lyrics and this is so beautifully heart breaking. Roy Kim has never failed to deliver great music. Especially that "Andwae.. Gajima.. (No.. Don’t go..)” part is telling that the man really doesn’t want to end everything, even he asked for it. It's from the deep of his heart. It's have mix feeling; sad, deprate, fear while holding a tear.
And the MV ofc, combination dark blue, grey and slightly orange indeed is the distinctive identity of the autumn-winter Roy Kim's song. And.. when he broke the glass, I audibly went "GODDAMN!" such a brilliant.

His pieces never disappointed me.
He is a genuine artist with pure talent.
He has a voice that speaks emotions.
He's that singer whose voice flows in your veins once he starts singing.
He's that singer whose songs you understand with your heart, no matter the language.
He's that singer whose music takes you to a different place.
His songs and his videos are always really great at portraying sadness and loneliness and this song did that really well as his another song.

But..
This K industries was ruined.
Maybe this is also the hardest part for me as Roy Kim's fan..

Roy Kim is that singer..
I don’t know how to describe but he is that singer..
He was literally a part of a group chat where each member watched and made videos of them raping unconscious women.

So.. I can never hear his song as the same way as before.
